About Us
We're one of the closest organic farms to New York City!
At Crossroads, we endeavor to provide experiential agricultural education to everyone. We do this through a collaborative effort of growing on our 5 acre organic farm. Crossroads is part of the Nassau Land Trust, a not-for-profit organization, composed of a volunteer board of directors working together to manage the farm through an operating agreement with Nassau County.

The farm is an integral part of the surrounding community, and it couldn’t thrive without you!

As we develop and nurture our farm community, everyone becomes intricately connected to the care of this open space. We do this through organic, biodynamic, and sustainable agricultural principles of land remediation and crop cultivation. Crossroads Farm has continued to be a NOFA-NY (Organic Certified) since 2011.

Those who volunteer and work in the fields are also connected to our farm stand, where we sell our harvested organic produce to the surrounding communities. We support local farmers and purveyors by selling their produce and products at our farm stand too. Each Saturday, Crossroads hosts a farmers market of local vendors and food trucks. Sales from the farm stand provides revenue for a sustainable farm operation.
Farm History
This land was farmed by the Grossmann family for over 100 years. It was a landmark of Long Island agricultural tradition for generations of visitors. When the land was put up for sale, the Nassau Land Trust nominated the property to be purchased by Nassau County through the 2006 Environmental Bond Act. Thanks to the County’s purchase, the farm was saved from development.
Since July of 2010, Crossroads Farm at Grossmann's has benefitted from the experience and dedication of its farmers and staff. With the invaluable help of volunteers, they have worked tirelessly to rejuvenate the soil and restore the buildings and infrastructure. As a result, Crossroads Farm at Grossmann’s has become a thriving, certified organic farm that employs effective biodynamic growing techniques—ensuring the health of both the land and the community. This public farm now has growing volunteer, education, and CSA programs, as well as a farm stand and farmers market for locally grown produce and products.
Farm Advisory Committee
The Farm Advisory Committee is the senior management entity at the farm and is comprised of Nassau Land Trust board members, community volunteers, and others who bring special expertise, experience, and guidance to this complex undertaking.

Nassau Land Trust
The mission of the Nassau Land Trust (NLT) is to conserve land and preserve Nassau County's heritage for future generations. We work with landowners, communities, and others interested in enhancing and protecting open lands, farms, and natural resources.
NLT is a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) corporation that accepts donations of land and conservation easements. We fulfill our mission by reaching out to landowners and facilitating their use of land conservation techniques. We provide creative land-use choices that respect the rights of landowners and reflect their individual goals. We also educate those involved in land use — such as government officials, planners, accountants, and real estate brokers — about the tools of land conservation.
The Nassau Land Trust is pleased to announce that the former Grossmann's Farm in the Village of Malverne has been operating as a working farm for over a decade. Thanks to Nassau County, who acquired the farm from the Grossmann family using proceeds from the 2006 Environmental Bond Act, and the Crossroads Farm Committee, comprised of a dedicated group of local residents, nonprofit leaders and NLT Board members, this beloved family farm has once again returned to active agriculture.
The NLT is an affiliate organization to the Peconic Land Trust.
