A little insight into June at Crossroads.

 

June at the Farm in Malverne is all about of growth, but also tranquility. As the sun rises each day, its warmth awakens us and our fields to another day of promise. The air carries the scent of beautiful wet earth and greenery, mingling with the chorus of birds and pollinators that greet us each morning.

In these early hours, the farm comes alive with a quiet energy. We start our day with purpose, taking field walks and tending to the needs of our crops with intention and care. The lettuce leaves unfurl in the morning dew, while the strawberries ripen beneath their leafy canopy, turning from green to a luscious red. The smell of tomato plants growing fill the fields.

Throughout the day, we move through the rows of fruits and vegetables, gently weeding around delicate seedlings, ensuring they have ample space to thrive. The rhythmic tasks of watching our sprinklers spin and pruning become a meditation, grounding us in the cycle of growth and renewal.

June is a time of transition, as spring gives way to the fullness of summer. The days grow longer, filled with the warmth that our plants have eagerly awaited. We watch with pride as our tomatoes, peppers, eggplants and okra begin to form, promising a bounty that will soon grace the tables of our community.
